ROSI, KURT & KONI
A film by Hanne Lassl
Rosi, Kurt and Koni are three of nearly a million Austrians, who have only rudimentary literacy skills. They need to find ways to get along in this scripted and letter coded world. Living in a society in which reading and writing skills are taken for granted every day challenges are inevitable.
Hanne Lassl accompanied the three protagonists through their daily lives for two years. The film shows their wishful thinking and takes a humorous look on their strengths and makes us smile in some moments on their weaknesses. But never Rosi, Kurt and Koni are exhibited or being made fun of. Rather, the film shows their struggle for independence and self-determination.
